ADHD Education

Did you know over 1.5 million adults in Canada have been diagnosed with ADHD? Being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult is not an isolated experience, there is a community of support and knowledge that can be tapped into and enrich your life.
To improve and grow, within any aspect of our lives knowledge and self awareness is key. Understanding the nuances of your own personal traits and symptoms, especially after being diagnosed as an adult, can make the difference between being hindered or rising up to meet the challenge.

About Harriet

“I have late diagnosed ADHD and have a passion to guide you through your own diagnosis.”
My name is Harriet and my first thought when I was diagnosed with ADHD was relief. Finally, I have something tangible that I can work towards and work with. My second thought was, how can I help other adults with late diagnosis so they don’t face the same challenges I struggled with for years.
After graduating from the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) in New York I created a haven of support and education for ADHD treatment in Strive to Thrive. My practice is based in developing individual plans that will cater to your unique needs and to create systems, strategies, and coping skills ensuring you never feel alone or lost in your diagnosis.

Are you a college student wondering why transitions into the real world seem so difficult?

If you struggled seeing the words written on a test, you would get glasses, so why should students with ADHD struggle without the proper support in place for them to succeed in their post- secondary efforts. Undiagnosed ADHD in students accounts for a 38% drop out rate.

This fact only strengthens my resolve in helping students early in their life to overcome the barriers that accompany a late ADHD diagnosis.

Do you know what to do, but just don’t know why you can’t do it?

Lazy, stuck, unmotivated, these are all words that incorrectly describe someone who is experiencing ADHD paralysis. There is too much stimuli happening around them or their “to-do” list is ready to pop. Having the stigma of laziness hovering over people with an ADHD diagnosis is damaging in many ways.
They are made to feel inadequate and their self-confidence plummets, which only leads to a lack of motivation. The term “quicksand” comes to mind. The more they struggle with their own overwhelming thoughts and self-loathing the faster they sink. ADHD paralysis can be remedied with many strategies such as scheduling systems, journaling, and even time management education. It is very important to note there is no relation between ADHD paralysis and low intelligence, it is merely a cognitive overflow that acts as a dysfunctional mental block.
